Another effective way for me to create an inspirational animation is to look at relevant animations that already exist and cover my chosen subject. I used YouTube as my search engine to look for any short premade videos that can help me in anyway create my animation just as unique. I had to look for three existing animations and analyse their design choices. The thee existing animation I found were videos from GasTroll, United Nations and Whiteboard Auto. Each video inspired me in a variety of ways, from background designs to information selling points.

GasTroll (2021) EV or Gas, What Pollutes More?

The first animation I found was by GasTroll called ‘EV or Gas, What Pollutes More?’. I’m drawn to the car model and background designs in this animation. I believe designs like this would integrate into my own animation project very well. Because my topic is such a broad subject, details aren’t necessary in the backgrounds as simplicity would work best. A prime example is changing cooling towers into silhouettes. The shape alone in a single colour is instantly recognizable to the target audience. This approach allows the focus to remain on the action being the cars, without the background becoming distracting. The car models also resonate with my vision. They look realistic and yet stylized too, making them perfect enough to fit into various scenes. By using these design choices, I can aim to create a visually cohesive and engaging animation that effectively conveys its intended message for its intended audience.

United Nations (2018) Breathe Life: I drive an electric vehicle

United Nations (2018) Breathe Life: I drive an electric vehicle

The second animation I found was by United Nations called ‘Breathe Life: I drive an electric vehicle’. This animation’s design choices really complement the topic. The colours used are particularly striking, setting it apart from many others and adding a unique appeal, especially given the subject matter being what it is. The use of colour in this animation is a standout feature. It enhances the overall impact and draws viewers in. I believe that I too could use such a variety colours in a way to make it work and stand out more to a broader audience.

Whiteboard Auto (2021) How Do ELECTRIC Cars Compare To GAS Cars?

Whiteboard Auto (2021) How Do ELECTRIC Cars Compare To GAS Cars?

The final animation I found on my chosen topic was ‘How Do ELECTRIC Cars Compare To GAS Cars?‘ by Whiteboard Auto. This video helped me understand the meaning to whether it is good to convert to electric or not. It includes a vast amount of information speaking about both pros and cons towards the two choices, giving me a clear understanding that although running electric cars is healthier for the planet, making them is worse than making fuelled cars.
