For my ethical or sustainable subject I have decided to go down the route of choosing a sustainable subject. I’ve chosen to explore the sustainability aspects of converting fuel-powered cars to electric vehicles. In my opinion this subject offers a strong narrative for my animation project. The core idea is that by retrofitting existing cars with electric components, we can make a difference in reducing our carbon footprint. My animation will promote potential benefits of this conversion process. It will highlight how replacing the internal combustion engine with an electric battery pack can drastically reduce emissions and improve air quality, particularly in urban environments.

BACKGROUND RESEARCH

The use of fuel-powered cars creates significant environmental and health risks. These vehicles are a major source of air pollution, emitting harmful substances like carbon monoxide, which contribute to respiratory diseases. The environmental impact is equally concerning. Fuel-powered cars release massive amounts of carbon dioxide, accelerating climate change and its effects, such as rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and disruptions to ecosystems.

Meanwhile electric vehicles offers a pathway to up effects such as, reducing air pollution, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and promoting a more sustainable and healthier future. While electric vehicles have their own environmental considerations, such as battery production and disposal, they represent a significant improvement over traditional fuel-powered cars.

Many people believe that the production of electric cars is just as environmentally damaging as using a fuel-powered vehicle. To explore this theory I researched the topic on YouTube. I found a video that directly addresses this debate, comparing the environmental impact of electric car production versus the long-term effects of using fuel-powered cars.

After watching this video, I thought I could produce an efficient piece of animation comparing the damage of making electric cars and the damage of using fuel-powered cars to the environment.

MY TARGET AUDIENCE

The intended audience for promoting a switch from fuel to electric cars includes environmentally conscious people seeking to reduce their carbon footprint and support sustainability. Additionally, it appeals to forward-thinking businesses aiming to promote clean energy and a greener economy. Ultimately, the message resonates with anyone valuing a healthier planet and a more sustainable future. The target audience for switching from fuel to electric cars primarily focuses on adults aged 25 to 55.
