Initial Idea
My initial idea is to create a functioning mobile app for my original movie streaming service. The streaming service brand name is Star Studio as I believe I could create an appealing logo that suits its style. My app is going to feature a wide variety of movies to hopefully appeal to a range of audiences.
Intended Audience
My target audience for Star Studios expands out to a wide range of age groups. The main audience consists of young teenagers to young adults aged 13 to 30. To gather research of needs and wants I shall create personas, asking the users questions what they may expect on a app and what they may want to avoid.
Colour Palette
In order to create a recognisable representation of Star Studios house style, I will use these three primary colours throughout my app design. However, I might incorporate darker shades of purple to avoid making the design look too repetitive.
Typography
Fonts used throughout my designs shall be Inter. Even though its the standard Figma font it matches the style of a modern streaming service platform, which I’m wanting to create. It’s also similar to the competitors, they all seem to like using bold sans serif fonts.
Competitor Research
The three most common competitors in the movie streaming industry are Netflix, Disney Plus and Amazon Prime Video. Each company include pros and cons. Down to design, accessibility, subscription price, limited movies etc.
Personas
I used Google Forms to design a survey for my personas, aiming to collect valuable information regarding their requirements, preferences, and even any challenges they face with existing streaming platforms like Disney +, Netflix, and Prime Video. This information will be considered during the development of my streaming service application, as they serve as an excellent role to improve the overall user experience.
