Website Design

To ensure I created a design suitable for my target audience I created a quick survey using Microsoft Forms to gather feedback and responses from users who may be interested in MCM Comic Con.

One of my main questions in my survey was whether there are any colour schemes that users might be interested in and which ones of them have the most links to MCM. A majority of my responses voted for the original style, which is orange, black and white. However, now that I’ve made a mock up using those chosen colours, it seems like it could use one more colour. Even if it was just to be used as buttons or interactive links.

The first page the users see visiting the website is the Homepage. For now, the navigation bar is created only with buttons for each section, but I find that design lacking in creativity or even interest. I shall most likely revamp it into a header for the high-fidelity version. The Homepage features a main heading that welcomes visitors to MCM Comic Con, with the dates and location listed below. There is also a call-to-action button that allows users to quickly purchase tickets. The homepage shall also include a ‘meet your heroes’ section, presenting a shortened list of guests who will be attending the upcoming comic con event. As a much larger list shall be accessible in the ‘Abouts Us’ page.

On the About Us page, the user is given a short description of what MCM is. Underneath that the user is presented with a ‘Things To Do’ section, that contains a list of all the activities that MCM comic con has to offer. Every activity/thing to do is divided into a box that, when clicked, redirects the user to a page with more information about that particular activity.

On the Tickets page, you’ll find different types of tickets all depending on when you’re attending and how long you’ll be there. All tickets are the same size, except for one because it’s an all weekend ticket and that’s the most expensive. Each ticket also has a CTA (Call to Action) button below it, able to direct the user to the next step into purchasing a ticket.

The Dates & Times page consists of three main headings being the three dates MCM Comic Con falls on. And under each heading further information about entry and leave times depending on your ticket type. An additional subheading has been added giving out information about the After Hours times and dates. I included a small ‘Learn more’ button that shall direct the user to another page dedicated on extra information.

The Profile page offers the user to create an account, or log into their pre existing one. This page allows the user to view their tickets in the form of a QR Code, or a virtual receipt.
