App Design

To ensure I created a design suitable for my target audience I created a quick survey using Microsoft Forms to gather feedback and responses from users who may be interested in MCM Comic Con.

Whilst gathering feedback for the companion app, I asked the users about the most important feature they would like to have in the app. The majority of the responses suggested a feature to show the tickets while on the go. To address this feedback, I plan to add a ‘View Your Ticket’ section in the app that will include a QR code. I will include this feature in my final high fidelity design.

Originally I had the choice whether I wanted the app to have a drop down hamburger menu preferably positioned at the top or a navigation bar at the bottom, both to guide the user through the app. After some research it turns out a navigation bar is much more suitable for the user as its easier to function due to its position. Whilst the hamburger menu makes the user either re position their hand to be able to click it or stretch. However, I ended up incorporating both elements in my mock design as the hamburger menu shall provide in depth elements such as settings, or a search bar to find key information.

The navigation bar is the most important feature of my app, it allows the user to explore the app to its full potential. The navigation bars primary use is give the user the opportunity to browse each page with ease. So far the navigation bar is interactive, but lacks animations. This will be incorporated in the high fidelity version. For now, it switches between pages instantly.

My Companion App Navigation Bar

As this design is still an early mock up of the mid fidelity layout it lacks all needed information and animations. So far it shows an idea of the colour scheme and placement of elements however it may be changed during the construction for the high fidelity version.

Now looking back at the ticket page I’m not to happy with the choice of colours for each element, and not really happy with each ticket layout or design. That page will be improved for the high fidelity design.
